Claudia Fernandes, Betafactory – Yes, it is that time of the year again and no, I am not talking about Christmas but about the start of the spring semester! This semester we have the honour to welcome 30 international students at the faculty of TIS! (all- time record for TIS ? ) The students are from Austria, Belgium, China, Ireland, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Scotland, South Korea and Spain.

It all began last week when the international students arrived in the Hague and Delft. Due to different arrival times and dates, I decided to have the introduction meeting on Friday 2 February. The colleagues from the International office were also invited to speak about general practical matters such as housing, insurance, campus card, healthcare, life on campus etc. My meeting was about some practical matters about and within the faculty like signing some necessary paperwork and a chance for the international students to get to know one another.

After this meeting I guided the international students to the campus in Delft were Peter Menger had arranged a ‘meet and greet’ for his minor Living Labs. The international students of Smart Manufacturing and Robotics were lucky that they ran into Thijs and got to see their workplace for the upcoming semester (the were all enthusiastic!).

Hopefully the students will learn new things, create good memories and can reflect on a great exchange semester with us here at TIS (and tell others about it!).
